They said it would be better; that they could rebuild the world like it was.
They lied. The world isn’t better; it’s much, much worse. The Earth that
was…was no more. We fought a war that virtually destroyed our way of life
and forced us to try again… . We had no money, no order, no purpose once
the smoke cleared and what used to be Korea and China were nothing more
than barren earth.
And then she came along. The Party tells us what to do, what to think.
They tell us when we can be outside, what films we can watch, what books
we can read. And now there are whispers of medical testing; behavioral
modification drugs that are being tested on prisoners. They’re supposed
to pacify the senses, making people less violent, but some of us don’t think
it works. The Pax increases the aggressive response signals, it caused people
to get violent. Sometimes it works too well… People stop eating, they stop
going to work, and then they stopped moving… they would just lie down and die.
It’s only a matter of time before taking the Pax is no longer a choice, but law.
There is hope… a small one. Despite the all seeing eye of the Party and the
dangers of the ruthless Vindico an underground organization has taken it
upon themselves to expose the Party’s cover ups, to discredit them, to take
back their lives and our country. They hack into the Party’s broadcasts, they’re
on the radio waves; you may not see their faces, but you will hear their voice
and The Party is not happy. The Party is hunting the Novo down one by one;
it’s dangerous to be a free thinker. American has become a country where freedom
is the worst crime you can commit.
