MODIFICATIONS:
Marana's parents—whom are her scientists—mingled her genes with that of a wolf pup when she was seven-years-old. Alike the lynx used on Cyra, the wolf was 'equally' Marana's age, for the same reasons as the lynx and her twin. The wolf DNA were perfectly merged with Marana's, jointedly making her a splendid mix of a wolf and human. Her lupine features quickly formed, then died down to a slow, steady pace around the age of thirteen or fourteen.
FULL DESCRIPTION:
Although her DNA had been wolf induced, many believed Marana to be stunning as long as they could look past the lupine factors on her body—but few people are capable of such. She bears a petite frame and slim physical attributes, accentuated by her usual fitted attire. Marana has playful curves that are appealing to the eye. From the tips of her fingers to her elbow a coarse coat of sable fur grows—likewise for her legs, although starting from her toes and ceasing just above her knee. Her face is attractively narrow; her eyes are a bright blue with a normal-appearing pupil. Her shimmering, layered black hair reaches her shoulder blades. Parted on her right side, her fringe curves from just above her eyebrow to merge with her top layer. Poking out where human ears would reside, are equally ebony-colored lupine ears. In addition to her wolf features, Marana’s incisors are elongated and sharpened; her nails are naturally long and claw-like; a two-and-a-half foot long fluffy tail.
PERSONALITY:
LIKES:
- Hanging with Cyra, although she feels obligated to do so
- Socializing and meeting new people
- Exploring, wherever the place—town, forest, etc.
- Trying new things
- Steak~ (especially raw}
DISLIKES:
- Her parents
- As many people do, although with a much more emotional rage against: the Myst
- Needles
- Being at home, all cooped up and controlled by her mother
- Practically any scientist, she never really had a fondness for them
STRENGTHS:
- Enhanced senses, due to her lupine genetic coding
- Very trustworthy and reliable
- Alike her sister, she is a skillful adversary, although she tries to refrain from needless fighting
- She does not dwell on the happenings of the past, instead, she tries to make everyday better than the last
WEAKNESSES:
- Because of her giving nature, she can trust someone too much and easily be taken advantage of
- She knows that day-by-day, Cyra’s mental control is diminishing, and Marana will be little better off once Cyra is finally engulfed by the Myst
- She always puts herself in harm’s way to protect her sister and her friends(this could probably account as a strength and a weakness, too…)
- She is victim to her own punishment, also, since she puts Cyra first in every criteria of her life, she does little to nothing that benefits herself(e.g. finding a suitable mate}
FEARS:
Cyra longs to live with her twin forever, since she believes she can only be whole again within her presence. She fears for Marana’s life, which she so compassionately puts on the line to protect Cyra and keep her from harming herself further. Although she disguises it with an empassioned hatred, she is afraid of her mother, and what other ‘improvements’ she might embed into her.
AMBITIONS:
Marana intends to stay with her twin until the Myst within her ultimately succumbs her, as to insure Cyra an enjoyable life until her demise—one that Cyra is even unaware of approaching.
FULL PERSONALITY:
Marana always seems to be the cheerful twin, which she is extrovertedly. Inwardly, however, she expects and openly accepts the worst. She is exceedingly loyal to those she knows. Marana readily volunteers herself to help anyone in need. Aimlessly roaming is a favorite pastime of hers, since she sees new places and maybe other Lithista citizens. She strives to make friends, but does not try to search for a partner, being too preoccupied by Cyra. But if she does happen to stumble across someone, then she hopes that he can understand her desire to constantly care for her sister.
HISTORY:
NAME: Marana Acacia Ayers
PARENTS: Phoebe and Roivey Ayers
SIBLINGS: Cyra Ayers
KNOWN HISTORY:
From that of a newborn infant to their childhood years of seven, Marana and Cyra led typical lives like any other girls in Raleston: boring. They never knew their parents were scientists, but their natural childish curiosity always wanted to know where Mummy and Daddy had gone in the mornings before breakfast. And whenever they saw them again, they always seemed stressed. Why? Was the question that ran through the twins' minds
The day of her experimentation, however, Marana's entire life beyond that point changed completely. In spite of this, she regarded it with a help tongue, knowing what was done is done—there was not a route out of it.
A week before their eighth birthday, Cyra and Marana were ecstatic, as they always were when they thought of sharing another birthday together. One morning they had woken up earlier than usual. Ready to bounce off the walls, they happily sprinted to the kitchen, looking for their parents, who were just entering through the back door located in the kitchen. The twins’ faces elated even more—if such was possible—when they saw what was in their mother and father’s arms: a lynx cub, held by their mother, and a wolf pup, by their father. Cyra and Marana ran to the animals to pet and love on them, instantly forming a fondness for the baby lynx and wolf. The girls begged and pleaded to keep them. And, in a tone that did not seem right, Father responded:
“Something like that.”
Marana took a moment to process her father’s manner of voice, and noticing the way he said it with a fleeting glance to her mother. But, as to not cause any unwanted attention to herself, Marana mimicked her twin and began to pet the wolf and lynx, appearing overjoyed by the occurrence of the animals but inwardly pondering what her father’s words had meant. Mummy and Daddy soon left with the cub and pup and disappeared again. Marana, again, copied her sister and seemed saddened by the departure but nonetheless wanted to know what Mummy and Daddy were going to do with the baby animals.
That night Marana and her twin sister were beckoned by their parents, into the place that they always lingered in—the ‘Secret Room,’ the sisters always referred it as. The room was crude and large machinery covered every wall. Lights flashed in various patterns and colors on all the massive equipment. They had expected much, much more since Mummy and Daddy were always in there.
A small poke, they said. It was more than that. From the miniscule ‘poke’ the needle gave, a burning sensation coursed through her arm and eventually throughout her body. Numbness. That was what she felt after a minute or so of the throbbing below her skin, an itch that she could not scratch, no matter how hard she tried, it seemed. She was in immense pain, but it seemed like nothing at all. Dazed and in a trance, Marana soon fainted from the internal beating her body was coping with…
During Marana’s faint from the shock of the crude, illy-tested sedative, her parents operated on her and Cyra, implanting the genes of an equally blacked-out lynx cub and wolf pup with theirs. The twins were down and out for recovering for about two weeks. They missed their eighth birthday.
Then she was suddenly bolt upright in her bed, having been awoken by a scream that was still being voiced. She knew immediately that it was Cyra. She ran to her sister’s bed across the room and sat beside her, pulling her into a comforting hug. Cyra’s cry soon died out and she collapsed into Marana’s arms. When she spotted her own morphed body parts, she quickly checked to see if Cyra possessed any as well. And, to Marana’s befuddlement and horror, she did.
Over the years, the twins refused to part from one another and downright denied any time alone with their parents, for fear of what they would do to them next.
At the age of 10, her father was slain by one of his malfunctioned experiments after adding the DNA extract from a long-extinct sabor-tooth tiger femur. The human existence that somehow still resided within the beast had been, basically, tossed out from the body, leaving only pure prehistoric animal survival instincts to run amuck. Because of the event the remaining Ayers moved to Mummy's birth home: Lithista. Since their move, Mummy had hired private tutors to teach Cyra and Marana, since—having been experimented on—school was out of the question. This duration lasted until they reached seventeen. They seldomly ever went out in public, having been forbidden to do so. The expanse was a silent one.
Now, she and Cyra freely roam about the streets of Lithista. Mother allows them to do as they please, but still expects them to obey her without hesitation.
A few weeks before their final days of being tutored, Marana noticed her twin acting somewhat strange—her mind seemed to be elsewhere, and, from what Marana was able to pick up from her, that ‘elsewhere’ seemed like nothing good. One night Marana silently observed her sister get up from her bed and trek from the room, down the hallway, and out the back patio door. Puzzled by Cyra’s desire to leave the house at such a time, Marana quietly followed her as to find out where she was heading. And, by the looks of it, her path was the Myst.
Marana had just arrived to see Cyra step foot into the Myst. She cried out her sister’s name, then implied for her to stop and come back.
Marana watched Cyra run from the Myst and to her, Cyra’s form was a wreck of trembles and shaking. She looked up into her twins eyes—ones that would be mirror images if not for Marana's tears of fear and Cyra's widened eyes from the shock the Myst caused her—and said to her in a distant tone that soon was infected with a burning passion and declined again into a whole-hearted plea:
"I didn't want to leave... I didn't want to leave! Mara, take me back, please! It's so much better there! And I... Mara, please... kill me..."
Marana had set aside her sister's begging and helped walk her back home, where, after laying on her bed for barely ten seconds, Cyra fell into a deep slumber and woke the next day, revitalized, and remembering nothing that happened the night before. Which was much to Marana's agony, since she is the only person to know of Cyra's Myst intoxication.
