Experiment I.D.: CARNA (CAR-nah)
Base: Darnell, Heather
Base Info: 12-years-old, female
Factor: Arctic wolf
Experiment Initiation: Liuma 8, twenty-two years ago; 12:36
End of Experimentation: -Experiment aborted-
Data Log:
Subject perished soon after exposed to lupine DNA.[/ul]
Experimentation terminated. Data log on EXPERIMENT Darnell, Heather “CARNA” incomplete.
Experiment I.D.: TEDDYE (TED-dee)
Base: Nate, Grace
Base Info: 10-years-old, female
Factor: Grizzly bear
Experiment Initiation: Janua 7, twenty years ago; 13:41
End of Experimentation: Liuma 16, eighteen years ago; 01:56
Data Log:
A few weeks after I moved TEDDYE into the cell, short, coarse fur grew all over her body, although thinned around her face, palms, and the bottom of her feet. From what I can get out of her, she seems to be rather stable. Entry submitted on the twenty-second of Janua, twenty years ago, at 17:37.
With the experimentation on REIV, I’ve forgotten to update TEDDYE’s log. Nothing major has happened, but TEDDYE has definitely become more sociable and friendly. She’s even been so at a point where I let her roam outside for a bit, under my close eye and at-the-ready tranquilizer, of course. Entry submitted on the fifteenth of Liuma, nineteen years ago, at 23:09.
Sadly I for sure haven’t been caught up with updating TEDDYE’s data log, but not only is REIV’s analysis consuming my time, now I have to deal with maternal issues. Which I know isn’t a good combination, but I can’t keep away from the lab. Now, I must say, TEDDYE’s been the most well-mannered subject I’ve had. I’ll see if her temperament remains. Entry submitted on the twenty-seventh of Ramca, eighteen years ago, at 22:48.
An illness has befallen TEDDYE, and I am not sure of her health. Because of the multiple plausible reasons of the cause of the disease, it will be difficult to discern what treatments she might require. But from the odd conditions of the illness, I suspect it to be unique to bears. So, proper nutrients and extra meat, possible some grasses, would be my best bet for her. Entry submitted on the thirtieth of Anxa, eighteen years ago, at 15:36.
When I checked in on TEDDYE this morning, it was as I feared. TEDDYE’s form was lifeless. But it’s not like I didn’t think this would occur. YEDDYE’s health was diminishing day by day. Entry submitted on the sixteenth of Liuma, eighteen years ago, at 21:42.[/ul]
Experimentation finalized. Data log on EXPERIMENT Nate, Grace “TEDDYE” complete.
Experiment I.D.: REIV (RAVE)
Base: Vandale, Ashton
Base Info: 14-years-old, male
Factor: Bald eagle
Experiment Initiation: Liuma 5, nineteen years ago; 05:12
End of Experimentation: Lopa 14, eighteen years ago; 01:02
Data Log:
REIV is taking the pain in stride. And he is making little to no resistance to the infusion, which is always a good sign for what’s to come. [/b]Entry submitted on the fifth of Liuma, nineteen years ago, at 06:42.[/b]
It’s been about an hour or more since the DNA splice and nothing has formed on REIV body. So we’re going to move him to a holding room and check in on him later. Entry submitted on the fifth of Liuma, nineteen years ago, at 08:19.
I’ve seen no improvement to REIV’s condition as to the appearance of ‘extra’ features. But I have noticed that he prefers to remain shirtless, and grip and scratch at his back—mainly the shoulder blades. Entry submitted on the first of Janua, eighteen years ago, at 18:42.
Now talons have formed, and REIV’s hands and feet very much resemble that of a bird’s. Now, wih these new appendages, he causes further damage to him as he reaps at his back. I have gone in and bandaged his wounds, but he continues to hurt himself. “It hurts,” is what he repeatedly says, whether anyone is there. And when asked ‘Why?’ he doesn’t respond, or simply stares at me with his lifeless eyes, which the pupils are dilated so enormously that he seems to have no iris. Entry submitted on the fourth of Fubria, eighteen years ago, at 20:25.
I checked in on him around midnight, and found him sprawled on the floor, wings—eagle wings it appeared as—ripped out in hand, and blood was everywhere. All over the walls, a large pool of it was growing yet beneath REIV’s body. He turned to stare at me as I entered the cell; the plea for death was in his eyes. And seeing as he was already high in his own blood, I gave him what he wanted. Entry submitted on the fourteenth of Lopa, eighteen years ago, at 01:02.[/ul]
Experimentation finalized. Data log on EXPERIMENT Vandale, Ashton “REIV” complete.
Experiment I.D.: FEYNGH (FANG)
Base: Böttcher, Erich
Base Info: 7-years-old, male
Factor: King Cobra
Experiment Initiation: Anxa 17, fourteen years ago; 06:44
End of Experimentation: Ongoing
Data Log:
Experiment ongoing. Data log on EXPERIMENT Böttcher, Erich “FEYNGH” still requires updating.
Experiment I.D.: Marana (MAIR-rah-na)
Base: Ayers, Marana
Base Info: 7-years-old, female
Factor: Grey wolf
Experiment Initiation: 18 Varno, eleven years ago; 22:55
End of Experimentation: Ongoing
Data Log:
The house is still silent because of the girls' unconscious state. It's their birthday, and they haven't woken up. Not that I ever expect an experiment to awake only a few days after experimentation, but it's different when it's my children. That must what's causing my sudden impatience and insomniac mood-swings for sure. Marana isn't doing much at all, a few groans from time to time, but that is it. I can already see wolf features defining over. Entry submitted on the twenty-first of Varno, eleven years ago, at 22:58.
At last, something noteworthy: Marana has woken up. Or rather [/i]Cyra woke her up. But nonetheless, my girls are alive and fine. Marana is adapting well with her new modifications, but I had expected as much from her. But still, the happening is rather remarkable: an eight-year-old readily walking away from a genetic implant so soon. Only ten days! I've seen grown men taking at least two months of recovery from an infusion similar to Marana's and still have stability problems afterwards. But most likely her strangely quick recovery is due to Cyra's terrified scream that she issued whilst her recovery time. Marana, and Cyra, too, both are amazing and incredible kids. The best a mother could ask for. Entry submitted on the twenty-ninth of Varno, eleven years ago, at 23:24.
All can say is this: The girls hate us for what we’ve done. But from their vantage of the situation—I don’t blame them. We never told them of our motives, and now they won’t even bother to listen to us. Anyway, Marana’s adjustment is going remarkably well. Fur has grown over the past six days. Wolf ears a forming over her human ones, not mention her sense of hearing has shot up greatly. Smelling as well, but it was hard to notice, since she doesn’t speak to us of her new body. Entry submitted on the seventh of Khanam, eleven years ago, at 21:47.
Yeah… no updates for… five years? Anyway. Marana has been great since the operation. Her ears are now replica of a wolf’s. Not too long ago, her fur stopped growing when it reached roughly 3 centimeters. Minor shedding is now an apparent hiccup. Entry submitted on the twenty-fourth of Janua, ten years ago, at 21:49.
Marana is, well, what can I say? She’s so adjusted to her animal counterparts that you’d think she was born with them. But I must say, and this coincides with Cyra’s current flings as well, Marana seems to be much more friendly to those she meets in the town, yet, she also appears to be lost in thought—and, from the grieved and tortured look on her face, the thought is none too pleasant. Though of course approaching her about it is out of the question, so watching and waiting for results is all I can do. Entry submitted on the eleventh of Wirr, two years ago, at 19:36.[/ul]
Experiment constant. Data log on EXPERIMENT AYERS, MARANA still requires updating.
Experiment I.D.: Cyra (KERE-rah)
Base: Ayers, Cyra
Base Info: 7-years-old, female
Factor: Lynx
Experiment Initiation: 18 Varno, eleven years ago; 22:55
End of Experimentation: Ongoing
Data Log:
The twenty-first. Cyra is whimpering and squirming as usual as she is recovering. Not much of an update, I realize, but since the strenuous procedure on the girls, lack of sleep and food consumption is now taking its toll on me. The girls' welfare is nagging at me. I wish and pray that they make it through, but it is only the beginning stages of recovery and development, so I must be patient, otherwise be driven insane from the anticipation. Entry submitted on the twenty-first of Varno, eleven years ago, at 23:20.
Screaming was what had awakened me up from my long-awaited slumber, nor did I even realize I was asleep until, well, I woke up. But sleep was of little importance as we, Roivey and I, rushed to the girls' bedroom, but stopping at the door to peer through the slit as it stood ajar and silently listened. I couldn't believe it! Roughly two weeks and they were fine! Further analysis of their behavior will no doubt be necessary. Entry submitted on the twenty-ninth of Varno, eleven years ago, at 23:48.
Well, least Cyra’s development is going better. Although they’re not pointy yet, her ears are assuming the lynx-shape: furry, an extra wisp of long hair on the tip, and sensitive to frequencies Roivey and I aren’t even aware of. On her legs and arms, the silky black fur grew a bit over the week, and her face is beginning to vaguely resemble a cat’s. Entry submitted on the seventh of Khanam, eleven years ago, at 22:36.
Cyra has been doing well over the years since the operation. Her ears finally grew to rival a lynx’s in both appearance and usage. About a few years ago, her coat of fur stopped growing when it reached roughly 3 centimeters. Shedding has become a noticeable problem. Entry submitted on the twenty-fourth of Janua, ten years ago, at 22:03.
I’ve noticed strange behavior coming from Cyra, and I don’t know if it’s a late side effect from the experiment, or it was simply a mood swing, but it seems to be happening too frequently to be put just as that. Entry submitted on the eleventh of Wirr, two years ago, at 19:58.[/ul]
Experiment constant. Data log on EXPERIMENT AYERS, CYRA still requires updating.
Experiment I.D.: SABOUR (say-BER)
Base: Drouse, Ty
Base Info: 15-years-old, male
Factor: Saber-tooth tiger (bone extract)
Experiment Initiation: 30 Ramca, eight years ago; 07:36
End of Experimentation: -Experimentation aborted-
Data Log:
Everything is going as planned, subject is heavily sedated and Roivey is about to adjoin the two genes. The initial shock from the base was expected: a violent convulsion. His pulse raging at an extremity: 298 BPM. There was no consequence from the event, since the leather and metal bindings effectively bound the subject to the spot. Entry submitted on the thirtieth of Ramca, eight years ago, at 08:07
A few minutes after the first response, SABOUR finally calmed. In-between giving several paroxysms, but nothing we didn’t anticipate. His heart slowed to a still somewhat high 172. We waited at the side as the tiger DNA took upon its threshold. The unbelievingly long incisors; lengthened; sharp claws that gripped and tore the upholstery on the chair’s arms, and short, coarse hair that grew immediately in the stead of the shedding human follicles. Something’s happening to SABOUR. I’ll have to update later. Entry submitted on the thirtieth of Ramca, eight years ago, at 08:13.
Roivey is dead. The experiment took a turn for the worst, and SABOUR escaped from his restraints. Immediately targeting my husband. Why, oh why, didn’t we foresee this happening? I am dissolving the continuation of SABOUR. Although I do not have much a choice, since SABOUR pulled his life support before he was stable enough. Though I doubted he would ever reach internal equilibrium. Entry submitted on the thirtieth of Ramca, eight years ago, at 18:21.[/ul]
Experimentation terminated. Data log on EXPERIMENT DROUSE, TY “SABOUR” incomplete.
Experiment I.D.: DAEMON (DEE-muhn)
Base: West, Kendal
Base Info: 11-years-old, female
Factor: Cheetah
Experiment Initiation: Wirr 13, five years ago; 07:51
End of Experimentation: –Experimentation aborted-
Data Log:
My assistant and I added the DNA from the cheetah. Subject gave a start, but nothing I wasn’t prepared for. The base tried to escape her restraints, and albeit she almost did. Entry submitted on the thirteenth of Wirr, five years ago, at 09:12.
Once she was stable, we loosened the restraint on DAEMON’s head, so she could get a look at us. Her feline eyes have already appeared. This became apparent as she focused her sights on me. Then she suddenly threw her head back against the rest, thrashing. While releasing a roar-like scream, I witnessed the incisors lengthening gradually, but no doubt painfully. And, once my assistant alerted me, I turned to watch her nails, grasping for dear life on the arm rests, elongated into a fine, sharp point. Now she has calmed, and I am waiting to see if any other feline appendages materialize. Entry submitted on the thirteenth of Wirr, five years ago, at 10:03.
It was so sudden, that we didn’t know what to do. DAEMON, with a tremendous surge of strength, broke her restraints and charged for the door and was long gone before I could the tranq. gun ready. Entry submitted on the thirtieth of Wirr, five years ago, at 11:16.[/ul]
Experimentation terminated. Data log on EXPERIMENT West, Kendal “DAEMON” incomplete.

APPEARANCE:
HEIGHT: 167.64 cm
WEIGHT: 56.245 kg
EYE COLOUR: Deep emerald
HAIR COLOUR: Black, shimmers blue
LENGTH: Mid-back
SKIN TONE: Alabaster
FULL DESCRIPTION:
Black tresses flow to the middle of her back, but normally Phoebe irons them to a bouncy and elegant curl that effectively shortens them to billows that rest picturesquely on her shoulders. Where bangs would reside and cover her line of vision, are chin-length locks. Long enough to merge with the soft twist of her hair and short enough of properly frame the thin, sharp features of her face. Within this, deep, endless pools of emerald that could intimidate the truth out of almost anyone, yet still bear a sorrowful, worn-through air about them. Attractively proportioned muscles in her arms and legs give Phoebe a slim and lean appearance, but not scrawny. Which may seem an odd concept, given that her intake of food is dismal on a regular basis—it’s even worse when an experiment is taking place.
PERSONALITY:
LIKES:
- Marana and Cyra, of course
- Animal/Human DNA infusions
- Being up and about; simply put, active
- Solitude
- Animals
DISLIKES:
- Failure
- Having her girls despise her as much as they do
- Sitting/Having nothing to do
- She may not hate crowds, but if too many people try to confront her that’s when she starts to hate them
- Cameras—they’re the worst, ever
- Those cliché, death-white lab coats
STRENGTHS:
- Biology
- Zoology
- Ambitious
- Exceedingly literate, in both writing and speech
- Very observant
- Adaptable
- Death is no enemy to her, she will openly accept it
WEAKNESSES:
- Unwilling to receive help from anyone
- Stubborn
- Quick on first impressions
- Sometimes things go ‘in one ear and out the other’ if she is in the middle of something important to her—or if she’d somewhere she doesn’t want to be
FEARS:
As any doting mother would, Phoebe fears for her children’s safety, even though the feeling is not mutual. Other than this, there really isn’t anything else Phoebe fears, since she open to all that comes her way.
AMBITIONS:
Phoebe strives to create the “perfect” species. To do so she adjoins animal and human DNA to become one. Preferably after the subject is born, so as to not cause any unwanted defects. Although she says she has yet to uncover the golden match for humans. And even though she doesn’t attempt to repair the relationship between her and her girls, she does crave for it somehow miraculously happen. But she highly doubts such a marvel to occur, since after their experimentation, they ultimately stopped trusting her entirely.
FULL PERSONALITY:
Phoebe is a content and generally impassive woman. Strong-willed and steadfast, she will readily take on a challenge whenever one shows itself before her. To the population in general, Phoebe is professional and to the point, wasting no time with small talk. But to her experiments—Marana and Cyra included—she is distant, but never cold, and prefers to keep the relationship ‘at arm’s length.’ She isn’t one to openly criticize, unless one has earned it, but definitely one to judge before even acquiring a good enough spectrum of the person. It’s not that she means to do it, it’s more or less just her observant nature kicking in and locking in on the best, most liable solution at the time.

EXPERIENCE AT THE LABS:
Phoebe’s laboratory life has been twenty-six years comprised greatly of trial and error, as is practically any other scientist. She believes the solution for survival in Myst lies in the splicing of animal genetics with humans. Her main achievements are those concerning animals—interlocked and combined with human genetics, of course. So, jointly, Phoebe’s goal as a scientist is to infuse an innate instinct, survival, as well as the resourcefulness of animals into that of the human race, creating, in her eyes, the perfect and ideal species. One with the cunning and logical capability of humans and the endurance and driven willpower of a beast.
She prefers to keep an experiment limited to only two sets of genes: human, obviously, and that of the animal she fused it with. She disapproves of in-locking multiple genetics, believing it would cause conflict if the animal part are not selected specifically to work efficiently together as a whole(e.g. a wolf and a rabbit(Phoebe’s overview: “…the wolf would strive for dominancy over the rabbit, possibly causing side effects and mental trauma from the conflicting and predatory symbiosis to the experimented body—the human base. The effects may or may not suffice on command, but on occasion they may appear and, how should I say this, ‘tear itself apart.’ The risk may be dismal, or not even there, but I’d rather not take the chance…”)
KNOWN HISTORY: The boring years of being an infant and eventually a toddler flew by without penalty. Then the curious years of childhood rolled around, which was when Phoebe became truly interested in the art of science. Even at such a tender age, she dreamed and though long and hard about the infusion of human and animal genes. Although at the time, being a child, of course, her initial ideas were fanciful and in the extremes about the results of the infusion. Often resembling the outcome of simply lopping off body parts and then trying to put them back together to form a new being altogether. But as she got older, her logic did as well.
Phoebe rushed through her teen years with endless studying and shutting the world away. Junior and senior years of high school were everyday concurrent college studies and classes, having done and cleared the basic and even AP classes so as to have enough credits to cover most of the overly-expensive school fees and give a cheaper road to college.
Whilst in college, Phoebe met up with many scientists, befriend them and, well, to make a long story short, soon found ‘the one’ among the small group. Roivey Ayers, whom she married years later after college, shared her views of science and happily aided her in her experiments. But him helping her was all simply a way to worm his way into her heart—don’t all guys use such tactics?—even though she pretended not to know and played along with it. Her preface to experiments started near the beginning of college, her first subject being CARNA, followed by TEDDYE and REIV, which continued into her years after school.
Even after being married at twenty-four and then having Marana and Cyra at twenty-six, her time in the lab hasn’t diminished the slightest. After REIV passed on, Phoebe performed only trial, minor tests for the next four years. Following her downtime, she started on a new subject, known as FEYNGH, but kept her log on the experiment private(will release soon). FEYNGH isn’t kept near Phoebe’s home; instead she keeps him in her division of cells in Theranse. She periodically flies to the ‘Lockdown City’ to check up on him and obtain more supplies.
Her next experiments were, of course, Marana and Cyra.
Believing that undergoing a DNA splice would in any way better their lives, Phoebe and Roivey experimented on their daughters. Obviously, such a reason may be vague, but parents usually need not an absolute motive other than the enriching of their children’s futures. They don’t regret what they’ve done, since they trust that their girls’ modifications were for the best—even though said girls hate them completely now.
And then, SABOUR came along. Well, as one can see, working with such a primitive factor was no doubt a plan they didn’t think all the way through. This experiment led to the demise Phoebe’s husband, Roivey.
DAEMON was next, three years after SABOUR. This was basically a step down from the saber-tooth tiger used previously, since the DNA from a cheetah was used. But this particular operation didn’t end in such a catastrophe as before, though it wasn’t as you would say ‘eventless.’ DAEMON escaped by freeing herself from her binds, and was never seen by Phoebe again. She supposes DAEMON has perished, since she was recently worked on and still had to adjust to her new body.
At the moment, Phoebe has been on another phase of downtime, but she is preparing for a new experiment soon. She just needs a base…
FULL HISTORY:
~
EXPERIMENT MODIFICATIONS:
Phoebe has mastered the splicing of DNA of any biological being, although her preferences of bases are humans. She has thought of using an animal as a base, then adding human, or possibly another animal—one compatible with the base—to simply see what would occur, but she hasn’t bothered with it yet. Mainly due to the fact that obtaining an uncontaminated animal and then caring for it long enough find another animal to splice it with just seems as a needless risk.
As it may seem, Phoebe isn’t only dedicating her time to human/animal splicing. Transplants, adding/removing limbs, etc.—all the basics—she can perform flawlessly.
